Consultation

Chris will initially meet with you to talk about the process and listen to your ideas. It is very important for an artist to get a feel of the proposal and discuss possible outcomes and timelines. 

Draft plan

Following a initial consultation, Chris will then work on sketches and notes to come up with an initial draft idea. That might include for example the setting or a certain pose. Perhaps it might include a formal graduation outfit or a setting in a favourite chair wearing particular clothing. Chris will also talk about lighting and style.

Contract & deposit

After the consultation and draft ideas, if the client is happy then we can formalise the start of commission by writing a contract and asking for a 30% deposit.

Painting process

Chris begins the portrait either with you in a sitting or from photographs and will update you as the painting process continues.

Completion and delivery of portrait

The finished portrait will be in oil paint and Chris will discuss with you any ideas on framing. At the completion stage the final balance will be asked for.
